Week 9:Tintin
The Adventures of Tintin is French comics series by Hergé. It is about Tintin’s adventure around the world with his dog Snowy, solve the mysteries and find out treasures. It is beloved and even created to a 3D animated movie. The book I’ve read is The Blue Lotus, where it takes place in China and Tintin chase behind illegal opium.
What I like about Tintin series, I can write a book about it. First, it’s one of my childhood comics. I’ve started reading it when I was in elementary school, which means the whole comic’s pretty clear even for an elementary kid. And yes, drawing style is another reason I like Tintin. The line work is very clear and cartoony, it’s colored, how can you not like it? Everything may look simple but actually, the background and small details of the character’s experssions are drawn to the comics. Personally, thinking back of my childhood, the fashion of the characters’ another reason I liked Tintin. It looks they’re in late 20 century, which is fashion I like of. Depending on where Tintin’s setting takes place, his clothes changes as well—which is another detail I love. Third, the story is always interesting. It’s variety, always takes place in different settings but still connected with previous stories and characters, and making connections in my own head always interested me and allow myself to learn read quicker in my young age. Lastly, the characteristics of each characters are so clear and attractive. There are lots of characters that appear from each comics, which is hard to memorize sometimes. However, all the characters from Tintin are so unique and different I never get confused unless they’re Thomson and Thompson—the twin characters.
I really wish people who haven’t read Tintin read the comic, because time you read is really worth it.
